Medallions
Here are a few of the Medallions we have done. Keep in mind that these things are just plain white plastic or foam before we put these finishes on them. This is a great way to make you chandelier take on an entirely new look. We generally put a finish on them to match the finish of the fixture. This gives it the illusion of being part of the light fixture and letting it take on an entirely new and very dramatic look.
Now to answer some questions on where to get a medallion for your chandelier, here is where you go. You can start with the lighting department at your local Home Depot, Lowes or your favorite lighting store. If you don't find what your looking for there just go to "Google" and type in "ceiling medallions" you will find tons of them! How much does it cost? I think you may be surprised at how little it cost vs how big of a change it makes in the look of the room. Most of the ceiling medallions I install are in the 20 - 30 inch size range and are for the most part from $50 - $75 for the medallion.
The cost to faux finish it and install it can vary on the height of the ceiling the size of the light fixture and if I will need scaffolding to get it down. Most of them are in dinning rooms and cost very little to do. I can easily get at it with a ladder and have it installed in less than one hour. If you have a big one in a two story entry but, you have the key switch that lowers the light fixture. I can make short work of those as well.
I can't say enough about this inexpensive and easy way to add a very dramatic look to your home.
